I found that some of my relatives, who are quite financially secure, would get bitter and angry when they talked about a Latino family who had moved to town, worked hard, bought a house, and then had the temerity to buy a shiny new truck to drive their family around in.

Just set them off. A minority in a shiny new car! They have to all tool around in rustbuckets with the mufflers dragging on the ground, or these asshats couldn’t feel good about their own cars, it seems.

Dunno what the fuck that pathology is all about. Over-reliance on vehicle ownership as the foundation of male ego?
