What I don’t get about the But 2016 crowd is this. Are we supposed to feel confident if Biden suddenly were to find himself trailing? I’m sorry but the whole going back to 2016 just feels like heads they win, tails we lose. Look beyond ‘16 and look at this possibly being closer to 1932 or 1980. You don’t need to be a polyanna to realize that Trump has lost a lot of support where he needs to win and yeah I don’t trust SCOTUS either but I think even a dickhead like Roberts would find it difficult to invalidate a considerable margin of victory just to appease the Trump legal team.

I understood the worry earlier in the election, when there was still a strong case to be made that Trump might be able to ride a “strong” economy and social issues to a second term on a razor-thin margin. But towards the end of the summer, and especially after the conventions, I’ve felt that there just needed to be something major in his favor to swing the election. And yet, every time he’s been presented with such a scenario, he’s so badly flubbed it that it actually turned into a liability for his own campaign.

At this point, I understand hesitancy over saying that Biden can’t lose, but some of the fearmongering that has gone on to suggest that Trump will still successfully win is just…well, it’s outright embarrassing for the people suggesting it.
