Seriously, Murdoch many years ago realized that certain markets in the US were being underserved, as far as television was concerned. He’s stated so. He knew exactly what he was doing. None of this is a secret. It’s not conspiracy. It’s not fantasy.

Murdoch knew that the television news business, dominated by CBS and ABC and NBC, and then CNN, were run by and written by the so-called “elite” - people from the major journalism schools and from the urban centers of NY and LA.

Hate him ( and there is much for which to hate him), but his jumping into a market others had overlooked is how people become rich.

There should be no “market” for news as far as a demographic group getting facts in a different manner than another group. Facts are facts, they shouldn’t have to be fit to a consumer group.

All Murdoch did was feed those that didn’t like facts something they did like, hearing what they wanted to hear.

All it has done was blow everything up to now everyone is doing what you say in your comment. They are looking to tailor how facts are presented to ‘sell’ to the largest viewer base they can build for ratings to sell advertising.

I heard something the other day about how news used to be the original big 3’s “civic duty” for a couple hours a day. They didn’t worry about getting ratings as it was a duty to the public to have to cover the news in a real manner pretty much by FCC decree. Public address messaging pre se.
