He seems to think that if Obama had not spoken highly of Morsi after the ceasefire talks Morsi would not have taken his subsequent actions on the Egyptian constitution. There’s also an underlying conspiracy theory that Obama is supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in the background and an idea that cutting off US military aid would stop this.

Considering the amount of money that goes from the US to Egypt, there’s some undeniable influence, but what should be done with that influence is a huge question. Withdrawing all the money is probably not in anyone’s interest, except in the very very short run.
