I hope it all goes well for you and the Mate. But damn it, is there any other country in the advanced world where the spouse or significant other has to perform this kind of medical work, instead of having the pros stand aside because … um, insurance? Even in the middle of the last freakin century this wouldn’t have happened. But we as a nation and as human beings have gone insane about what matters and what doesn’t.

Yup. I mean, I once removed some stitches from Mr. C. because he couldn’t reach them himself, and yeah, we saved a $25 co-pay, but it also saved a lot of time (driving to the dr., waiting, getting it done, driving home.) I’m not sure I’d want to be packing wounds.
