What sort of well paying job can anybody expect to get with only a high school diploma? Coal mining?

Electricians, plumbers and others in certain trades can do quite well without a 4 year college degree. The pirates of Silicon Valley tended to be college dropouts who created a new industry. And more recently, even Mark Zuckerberg dropped out his sophomore year.
