Holy balls have things gone well. The open desert from Bir al-Ghanam to Az-Zawiya meant the Qaddafi forces were caught flat-footed.

Tripoli is nearly surrounded. And Misrata is finally out of the range of Qaddafi’s rockets, or at least those Katyushas with the longest range.

Nothing on the East though.

CNN has something:

Gadhafi gives audio address amid claims of rebel advances

The most relevant portion:

On Saturday, in the opposition-held port of Misrata, missile attacks by Gadhafi forces ended after rebels captured the nearby town of Tawargha, National Transitional Council spokesman Guma El-Gamaty told CNN. That city was being used by Gadhafi forces to launch missiles indiscriminately into Misrata, he said.

Rebels also took a crucial bridge that links Tawargha to Sirte, Gadhafi’s hometown and loyal stronghold, he said.

NATO also launched 47 airstrikes today. A number of Gaddafi vehicles got caught, including two tanks that got ‘plinked’ by NATO Mavericks.

Anti-tank missions were called ‘tank plinking’ during Operation Desert Storm. Call it 90’s nostalgia.
