Harcourt is making a category error by treating NRA propaganda as if were intended to make a rational point.

The NRA’s argument is:

1) Hitler bad

2) Hitler had gun control

3) Therefore, gun control bad.

Fallacious on its face of course, but well pitched to the reasoning capacity of the intended audience.

Would it blow their tiny minds if they were informed that Germany presently has generous laws for inventor compensation from patents that were enacted by the Nazis and basically unchanged since then?
