Oh definitely but those are things that wingnuts don’t give a fuck about. I’m talking about things that we really don’t even think too much about. Like we expect the food at our restaurants to be clean and free of disease but we forget often that the FDA was something that TR had to hard for. And clean water is something we all enjoy but would have been a luxury to our even our most wealthiest ancestors.

Well, to be historically accurate, even Teddy didn’t take the need for things like the Pure Food And Drug Act until The Jungle was published. And his own personal opposition to socialism made him want to prove Sinclair wrong, only to find out that even in factories and slaughter houses where the managers had been tipped off and given time to clean up, the conditions were still absolutely appalling.
