Both of those things came about after massive societal change - losing a war, the end of apartheid. Neither of those things will happen in 8 years after Trump leaves barring something huge and unforeseen. What will happen is that the cult media will return to its comfort zone in attacking a Democratic president, and CNN and MSNBC and local news will amplify those attacks to show that they are ‘nonpartisan’. And the next US autocrat won’t be as childish as Trump.

I’m not so sanguine. And I think the system will ultimately correct to ensure that another Trump, another autocrat, will never get elected again.
