re: #142 HappyWarrior
I think the big question isnât if this generation is more receptive to it, it may be why. Maybe thereâs something to Jeff says in 133 about how economic problems for todayâs young people have made it more receptive. But then again, Spencer himself comes from a well to do background as do a lot of these guys and a lot of these guys are getting their start on college campuses so theyâre not exactly totally struggling either. I myself have known struggle given my hard times in the past of finding employment and of the interview process as a whole but I never really considered resorting to xenophobia.
The internet has a lot to do with it, I feel like. The ease in which these kinds of ideologies have been able to spread online unchecked cannot be understated, and I feel like it hooks a lot of these guys early through curiosity and shared âcommunityâ and taboo. Like âthese are the things your parents wonât really tell you!â or bullshit like that. Iâd say some alienation issues contributes too, but it doesnât explain everything since it feels like a huge amount of these assholes are bullies in real life too, rather than the disaffected type that feel like they NEED to turn toward online for community.
