The NRA (and the right in general) complaining about this goes back to this article at Vox in 2017:

Each month, thousands of witches cast a spell against Donald Trump

Basically a group of Wiccans, techno-pagans, and other pagan religious folk working binding spells during regular monthly rituals (worship). It was a one-time article, not much came of it, and Republicans and now the NRA have turned it into some kind of giant boogeyman.
