in Germany it is still illegal but decriminalized, you pretty much have to go out of your way to get busted if you are not a commercial-level dealer.

Which just means that they are missing out on a lot of revenue. Netherlands have had it sorted for decades with their coffee shops.

Problem here is the German sense of Order and organization. Some insist that as a drug, it would have to be sold in pharmacies.

And needless to say, the alcohol lobby here is dead set against it.

Still, I recall a great photo caption quoting a Bavarian minister opposing legalization while sitting at a table at Okoberfest with a 1-liter beer stein in front of him.

When you think about all the people dying from alcoholism, alcohol poisoning and drunk driving, its just ridiculous to demonize weed.
