I loved that particular part of NBC training in the Navy. For those topside on a ship, after a simulated nuclear attack, they would run everyone through decontamination stations. Part of decon is to read out dosimeters … if you were above the lethal limit, you got put on the high risk teams of clean up and such, since you were dead but you didn’t know it.

The whole point was to get the ship back in fighting shape to retaliate.

I’ve watched the first two episodes of Chernobyl tonight…so far, it’s extremely well-done historical nightmare fuel.
