One of the epidemiologists who was doing modelling on the new-at-the-time COVID-19 which was spreading around the world in March last year was asked about shutting things down and re-opening them repeatedly to try and control the epidemic. He was very blunt about it, “You get one lockdown. One.” After that the fear wears off, the disease, the sicknesses and deaths become the new normal and people get tired of making the effort to prevent the spread continuing, second and third waves.

you do it once, you do it right, and you’re done, like australia.

instead we did what we did, got what we got and we’ll keep getting it for much longer than is necessary, because participation is so half assed (read partisan)
