Oh, and another shoot-yourself-in-the-foot government agency, though this one in the UK, is the UK-Met, which again confuses everyone with multiple “predictions” of “climate” over the next couple of years, this one being identified in BBC story (and picked up by the Torygraph) about predicting a slower rise in “global” (and I emphasize once again that the UKMET temperature graphs are only for a subset of the globe, unlike the US GISS ouput) temperature the 8 years or so.

I don’t know if it is the BBC’s fault (likely) or the UK-MET’s (and they have a history of being unable to deal with publicity wisely).

Inevitable it doesn’t probably matter, as we’re not going to do anything to seriously stop CO2 output (and this is indicated clearly in the new EIA report I just referenced). See also this:

Major cuts to surging CO2 emissions are needed now, not down the road, study finds

Ultimately it comes down to money. Stored potential energy in those carbon resources is a fundamental form of money, and who turns down a winning lottery ticket?

The HadCRUT data now uses the full set like GISS.
