Is it possible that the only people against background checks to purchase firearms know they couldn’t pass those background checks? When surveys show anywhere from 70-90 percent of the country supports these checks, what the hell is the problem?

I’ll also be totally fascinated to see how many right wingers suddenly are no longer nearly as paranoid after the black family in the White House moves on and a new President moves in that isn’t so Communist/Marxist/Kenyan. Yes, that shall be an interesting thing to observe….

The biggest driver of the opposition to background checks is the batshit crazy theory, primarily pushed by the NRA, that the records obtained through expanded background checks will be used by the federal government to compose an unofficial gun registry, the purpose of which is to make a future ban on gun ownership easier to enforce.
