Yes, but the differing colors of the layers lead me to believe there were some differences in the depositional environments. That would mean they were laid down horizontally, uplifted and then the frosting intrusion occurred. Could there be another cake just like that one on the other side of an anticline? Would more frosting be trapped at the center of that?

Actually, you either make it by cutting concentric vertical circles of cake, or rolling it, jelly roll style.

I was thinking more likely that between the boundaries there was some weakness that resulted in concentric faulting at the time of the intrusion. Erosion on the top to flatten it out, plus another frosting flow, and if we just sliced it off at the bottom you can have the differing layers without needing another cake like it on the anticline.

Screw the cake, I just want a bowl of the frosting.
