re: #142 allegro

You have my ultimate respect. I got fabric a week ago to make a new slipcover for a chair and I’m dreading it. I have a pattern since I’ve already made one for it that has now worn out and it will only take me maybe 3 hours if I work real slow. But…I. Hate. Sewing.

I will be whining about this dread still a month from now probably. Did I mention that I hate sewing?

I think slipcovers are harder than upholstery. A slipcover actually has to fit, whereas with true upholstery there isn’t a whole lot of sewing, you cut the fabric approximately to size and staple it to the frame. Reupholstering is scarier though, since you need to take all the fabric off. There is no going back. Whereas with a slipcover, you still have all the original stuff intact underneath the new slipcover.
Unfortunately this reupholstery I’m doing now is closer to a slipcover (except that I can’t take it off again, but the “bucket” seat doesn’t have anything to attach fabric to-I’m just sewing something that fits over the shape and then it gets tied through the back and bottom of the foam.
