The interesting thing to me about Giuliani’s tweet is it betrays Trump’s legal team’s frustration with Whitaker and seem to be publicly begging him to do more to rein in Mueller’s probe. The obstruction of justice they thought they were getting when Trump fired Sessions and jammed him in as Acting AG never materialized and they’re now they’re getting desperate. The reason Whitaker hasn’t overtly stepped on the investigation yet is probably that the ethics office report on his need to recuse didn’t come back with the result he wanted and now he’s desperately trying to stall its release. So all he can do is act Trump’s mole within the DOJ while letting Rosenstein continues performing all of the adult supervisory functions.
