How did we use to get most of our news? Not from reading newspapers or even watching/listening to news, but from what we heard from our friends, family and co-workers…

That has not changed, just the speed and extent to which rumors and retold stories can circle the globe.

I think too few people take this into account. All facebook and twitter did was shrink the space between people. Most people don’t pay that much attenion to the news. And what they hear from other people probably registers as important because why would someone else bring it up.
