Liz is really a great example of the “Ugly American” stereotype. I hate to break it to her, but to most every other nation in the world, we are the weirdos when it comes to our food. Depending upon who you ask, we either make everything too sweet, too spicy (or, if you ask India, not spicy enough), too salty, we deep fry everything, we have an unhealthy fascination with cheese and mayo, our serving sizes are ridiculous, we eat too many processed foods, and (most importantly) we slap “authentic” on anything that seems the least bit “foreign” to us (ex: Tex-Mex sold as “authentic” Mexican cuisine).
