My understanding is that in a number of Catholic Orders nuns wear rings to signify their marriage to Christ

I believe the nun wearing the lighter habit is not wearing a ring. My guess signifying she hasn’t reached a certain stage in her indoctrination

So “were exclusive but not engaged yet”
