Wingnuts are very vocal on the idea of ending dependency of foreign oil--meaning the evil MIddle East Kind —but not ending dependency on OIL/Fossil Fuels itself.

It’s about money and power, not about national security or the environment. If there financial interest were served by buying Chinese Oil, then that is what they would preach.

It’s about sticking it to environmentalists. They staked out a position early defending the status quo and now define themselves by their opposition.
