I went back and looked at the exit polling over at the NYT. The percentage of Latinos voting Republican over the last 30+ years is:

1980: 35%
1984: 37%
1988: 30%
1992: 25%
1996: 21%
2000: 35%
2004: 43%
2008: 31%
2012: 27%

Latinos are a much larger percentage of the voter population now than they were when Reagan ran in 1980. They’re clearly not buying into the GOP as much now as they were 10 years ago. Plus the teabagger DEY TOOK ARE JRRBZ garbage, the absolute contempt the GOP has shown the Pope, and the way Republicans treat Latino immigrants who aren’t from Cuba will not help them in 2016.

I guess the secondary question is what swing or marginal states are they a sizable fraction of? I don’t think they can turn Texas purple yet, and in a state like California or New York the GOP will discount them since they don’t have realistic plans of winning those states at this time.
