Killgore was a contrarian at heart. He didn’t know how to arrive at a position or construct an argument except via opposition to someone else’s point of view. The old guard here allowed him to appear thoughtful via simple contrast, which was relatively easy because most of them didn’t believe in evolution.

That’s a good description of him. Can’t really talk too much about the old guard. So many of em were on their way out as I and many entered.
