My mom’s mother is interesting. She definitely had/has some prejudices against African Americans but she has told us about her horror witnessing Jim Crow first hand when she first moved to Virginia. She also did not like President Obama at first but she came around on him by the midterm of his first term.

My mother was stationed in Virginia, she related to my sister and me the same about her experience there. She moved us out of Maryland over segregated schools (though segregation de jure had ended, St. Mary’s County was still engaged in it).
