Even the robotically generated suggestion is nonsense. Building/construction in California is currently robust enough to be pushing up wages for those in the industry.

Almost all the cost of housing in California comes down to land prices, not lack of construction.

And simply putting out more building permits simply drives up the cost of land.

Land here is expensive because so many people want to live here. Period.

You can make a case for high density housing since you’d have more people per unit of land, and there are a bunch of suggestions that high density housing should be located near transit, but if the transit doesn’t run frequently, doesn’t go where you need to, and doesn’t connect with anything else, you can be as close to transit as you want and you still won’t be able to use it.
