The right has a scapegoat now. They are going to focus hard on the lack of police response, which gives them an excuse not to talk about gun control, because clearly a proper response from the police force would have stopped this tragedy before too many lives were lost. Left unsaid is whether or not the officers would have been killed; how many people might have been killed before the police responded at all; the fact that NOBODY WOULD HAVE DIED IF THE GUNMAN HAD BEEN UNABLE TO GET GUNS SO EASILY.

And ignores the fact that even if the cops had stormed in with guns blazing, there’s no guarantee that any lives would’ve been saved. In fact, people may have died in the cross fire.
