Killgore was a contrarian at heart. He didn’t know how to arrive at a position or construct an argument except via opposition to someone else’s point of view. The old guard here allowed him to appear thoughtful via simple contrast, which was relatively easy because most of them didn’t believe in evolution.

Even back when this site was a lot more conservative, I noted that they generally had little time for flat-earthers or creationists. I saw that as a good sign.

And even the rather conservative posters had relatively reasoned and rational arguments, not just talking points followed by invective aimed at anyone who disagreed.
