I think it’s a safe bet.

Everyone in the White House tells him what he wants to hear, because they’re all afraid of being yelled at. The RNC has had to spend ad dollars in DC to make him feel better. They’ve cooked the poll numbers. They’re required to say nice things about him. Look at Ronna Romney’s ridiculous tweet yesterday about Biden’s response to COVID.

It’s like they’re not even trying to win an election, just trying not to get on the boss’ bad side.

They’re probably filling his head with the idea that Biden’s a pushover. And when Fox & Friends asked him about preparing for the debates, the very best he could do was rattle off where he’s flown to on AF1.

Story I read the other week was that he’s doing no debate prep whatsoever, just working on the principle that working the job means he’s fully prepared. The translation is pretty easy to see: He thinks he’s can just do as he has been and bullshit his way to victory. Problem for him is that, unlike all those “press conferences” this past summer, he can’t just walk away from the podium the moment he gets a question he doesn’t want to answer.
