My Kroger-owned former employer lost my final paycheck. First, they broke the direct deposit, then they lost the paper check. In the store. One person claims to have seen it. I have to return in a couple of days to sign something so they can order a replacement, to arrive in a couple more days. In my P.O. box.

I’d be about ready to lawyer up if I were you. It is blatantly illegal for them to withhold your pay from you.

Yeah, lawyer up… depending on your state, you’re probably entitled to a lot more than the amount of the check.

For example, in California, if you give 72 hours notice, the employer has to have your final paycheck (including any unused vacation time) for you on your last day. Every day they withhold it, you are entitled to one day’s wages.
