I am sure that the GOP have it a lot more thoroughly planned for next time around: they will even throw out a state or two that the GOP wins to make it look “balanced”, the overall goal of course being to refuse to certify enough results to deny either candidate an EC majority so they can then send things into Electoral Chaos.

Throwing out any election would be dangerous for a legislature. Imagine if you’re a Republican voter, and you state legislature says “We’re awarding the election to the Democrat.” Conservatives routinely show how violent they are when they don’t get their way. Dragging a hundred Republican legislators out of a capitol and murdering them in the streets is a foreseeable outcome. Would you want to be one of those legislators, knowing the base of voters you have?
