I think people also forget that you just shouldn’t go to war, period. War is generally the worst way to go about solving shit.

But so many people treat our military like it’s an invincible robot soldier with death eye beams that can’t be beat, and that the soldiers love being at war. Very few military guys actually like being in war. Very, very, very few infantry dudes do.

History is littered with statements about how stupid war is, how awful it is even when you’re doing it for the right reasons, and yet every generation we get rah-rah idiots who think it’s some fine surgeon’s scalpel that we can use and achieve predictable results.

I’ve always been more in line with Sherman’s point of view on the matter.
