Scott Walker approves drug test rules for unemployment benefits

Some people will have to take drug tests to secure unemployment benefits starting this week under rules GOP Gov. Scott Walker approved Wednesday.

Republican lawmakers approved a law allowing such tests last year, but it couldn’t take effect until Walker approved administrative rules on the issue.

Under the plan, those seeking unemployment compensation in most cases will be screened. If they don’t pass that questionnaire, they will have to provide samples for drug tests.
