Russia had the Obama administration over a barrel: if they had pursued Russian meddling to aggressively before the election, that in itself could have been construed as “meddling”.

The US electoral and political system left itself wide open and vulnerable to meddling, with or without active assistance from the Trump campaign: they were fools not to take advantage of it.

And they were traitors for doing it, because the correct thing to do was expose it.
