The worry Over Here is that any “reasonable” American administration-slash-elected-monarchy can be followed four years later by, well, something like the current administration-slash-elected-monarchy.

Europe and indeed the rest of the world really wants to be able to make plans for more than four years ahead. Having to factor in the distinct possibility that the 357kg gorilla in the world’s diplomatic sphere will go batshit crazy some leap-year November is now a sunk cost in such deliberations.
