Do we all have collective amnesia here? Trump attacked TPP from the “faux” populist right but Bernie was attacking it from the populist left. It was Bernie’s attacks that forced Hillary to come out against it. Of course, both Trump and Bernie may just have been reflecting the opinion of their Russian overlords. In any case, TPP had become toxic and anyone running could not be seen in favor of this treaty. I assume that Hillary would have figured out some way to preserve it, but it was not a winning political strategy to support this policy during the campaign

Yep, and I’ve been very critical here of HRC for folding, too. She could have stood up to Bernie. It’s an open question of whether the media would have buried or amplified her voice, but it turns out that a whole range of GOP-voting folks—especially farmers—would have needed little convincing to understand the benefits of TPP and consistent line on NAFTA.
