There’s a Wall Street Journal story here citing a survey that recent graduates in entry level jobs will earn an average of $51, 300 a year.

Am I wrong or does 50K seem a bit high for a starting salary in most fields?

$51,300 a year works out to about $24.66 an hour. If you’re in a state with minimum wage in the $11-12 range, that’s probably about right for an entry level job with a college degree. (Also, keep in mind that a lot of recent graduates are going to have work experience as well)
