Consider this - he wasn’t lying. Why would someone lie about something that is so easily proven to be untrue?

Chances are he’s really just willing to throw completely incorrect statements out there without bothering to see if they’re correct or well thought out. It’s hard to understand, but my guess it’s more likely than lying about things that are so obviously false.
