At least Puerto Rico isn’t asking for designs akin to those that occurred in 1818 (lasted a year until Illinois joined), when Michigan joined (lasted until Florida joined in 1845), Iowa too (lasted until Wisconsin joined the next year), the weird flags when Oregon joined (fortunately, only a 2 year circus), and finally when Colorado joined in 1876. That lasted one lasted for 13 years.
