My band played a gig in Detroit this past Saturday night a few miles from the Fox Theater in the Mexicantown area at El Zocalo. Awesome area, great people, we had a blast. These fuckwads on stage tonight can all go fuck off. In my opinion the worst thing that happened to Detroit in the last 60 years was when the auto companies recruited busloads of hillbillies from KY, TN and WV to move to Detroit to fill jobs in the auto factories. They brought their “culture” that eventually boiled over in the 1968 race riots and that led to white flight and the urban sprawl that sucked the lifeblood out of the city.

The good news is the young kids from the suburbs are moving back into the city and the auto industry is bringing in young technical workers from around the USA and the globe. Like it or not the Detroit area is still very much the hub of the US auto industry. All the apartments in Downtown and midtown are full, and there is a real feeling that the city is coming back strong. No thanks to the GOP.
