They were testing the escape rocket system on the recovered test crew capsule.
No comments from Musk or SpaceX apparently.

The video at the Daily Express is noted as “unverified.”

That said, if that violent explosion shown is in fact the recent failed test and not something else, I imagine SpaceX or the Air Force aren’t going to comment until they have something to say about what happened.
