I love how Johnson & Johnson shares rose 2% in pre-market trading on the paltry (“smaller than expected”) fine in the opioid ruling.

Well, when everyone was expecting multibillion dollar verdict and they got $574 million fine, yeah, J&J shares will rise.

Thing to remember is that J&J is facing similar suits nationwide and will likely lose ‘em in similar fashion. The ultimate tally will be in the billions of dollars, and it still wont be enough.

J&J also faces the ongoing talcum powder suits as well, and those have a similar trajectory too.
