RC moral theologians use a term called āpractical atheistā. Thereās a lot of them in pews.
The other problem is that lots of people never get past the Jesus they saw in Sunday School at 5 years old and think thatās all there is. They never read the āhard passagesā, never think about the consequences of (especially) sins of omission, and never have to consider faith as an adult does. One may need to be born again to come to the faith but that doesnāt require you to leave your brain and your conscious at the door.
