I think Obama deserves some criticism for his “JV” comments (though that isn’t necessarily indicative that he was actually taking the threat lightly), but among my conservative “friends” on FB it’s an article of faith that Obama’s policies gave rise to ISIS.

Certainly they were underestimated but if you blame Obama for that, you need to criticize Reagan’s guys for arming Saddam in the 80’s and definitely the Bush administration for turning to Iraq not even a year after the first troops landed in Afghanistan. And yeah it’s not as if Obama had done nothing about ISIS and was responsible for its rise.
