I seem to recall that there are tactical grade mailboxes on the market, made out of several mm thick steel. The sort of mailbox where a guy with a baseball bat tries to swing at it, and you bask in the schadenfreude as you count the seconds until he stops vibrating…

My brother had his mailbox knocked about a few times. Perhaps once by rowdy rural teens, but more times by a snowplow uprooting it. (Downside of living in western NY in range of the lake effect snow squalls coming off Lake Ontario.)
