Had Donald Trump bothered to listen to experts when it first appeared here (on the same day it appeared in South Korea), he’d have been hailed as a damn hero and probably would have been reëlected in a massive landslide.

I am convinced that Trump was terrified at the thought of what would happen to his heavily-leveraged properties if they suffered a loss of revenue streams.

That and the way he believed that a strong economy would contribute to his chances of re-elected.

He failed to grasp that people will rally around the President, even in times of economic crisis, if he is showing strong leadership and at least giving the impression that he is working hard to make things better for them.

But that sort of thing takes a lot of work and requires a lot of personality traits that Trump is sorely lacking.

Had Covid not come along he certainly would have won re-election, or had hydroxychloroquine turned out to be the least bit effective, he would have won by a landslide and be praised as the Hero Who Saved America.

Blasting work would have already started for his portrait on Mount Rushmore…
