Was race a factor? Probably. Zimmerman’s past 911 calls were predominately race-triggered. That is, of 41 calls for 911 approximately 30 were because a black individual was doing something. But the shooting itself was not due to racism.

Dead thread but I’m wondering where you got those numbers. I kept reading anywhere between 46 calls to 115 over the last year so I went to the released police logs…

..and counted 46 calls (45 incidences) over the last 8 years and only 5 of those calls were about a black male. Interestingly, 4 of those calls about black guys happened after a 9/22/2011 Neighborhood watch meeting with the police (which was held in response to a break in in the neighborhood). Up until that point there was one call in 8 years about a suspicious black male, where are you reading 30?
