re: #11 Wendell Zurkowitz (slave to the waffle light)

It seems that we are seeing the price for all the money we started “saving” over past decades on education: we have a serious segment of the population almost totally unaware of the basics of civics, politics, science or critical thinking.

I don’t think this was ever about saving money…it is and always has been about framing the discussion, about bending the facts to ideology.

The Texas schoolbooks debacle is a prime example. They want to teach adherence to ideology, they do not want to teach truth. When slavery is being taught as they weren’t slaves, they were “workers”…that is nothing but ideology.

And this is what the Republicans want and have wanted for decades. It is a direct tie in to the purpose of this article. Brainwashing at all ages and throughout every aspect of American life. This link from the main article is rather illuminating. The path to making education something to distrust, along with science and anything that goes against that ideology is not to be trusted or listened to.
